Sharon Minyata has more than 10 years of experience in HIV programs, care, treatment, HIV Prevention and research. Sharon’s healthcare programming experience rides on her work in partner scale-up on Prep, care and treatment implementation from various research and PEPFAR-funded NGO organizations with high indexes in HIV case identification and linkage, Care and Treatment and HIV prevention services across different subpopulations. In addition to her clinical academic qualifications, Sharon is a trained TOT on CQI, Adolescents and pediatrics psychology and advanced HIV management by Nascop.
In her roles, Sharon has executed innovative approaches to reaching the youths and adolescents with HIV care and treatment/retention interventions and both social and biomedical preventive programs. Of key are that She has managed to support implementation of PrEP interventions among the general, priority and key populations and offered research assistance to studies which informed national policy with discordant populations on PrEP outcomes.
Having worked with AYP care and treatment programs, Sharon brings a wealth of innovative approaches both at the clinical and HTS levels of programming with a high passion for continuous quality approaches.
Of key is the integration of HIV prevention services within binti Shujaa model targeting adolescent girls and young women and the implementation of peer led approach to improve HIV prevention outcomes among the key population in Nakuru county.
In her current position, Sharon has actively steered and provided technical leadership in both community and facility HTS prevention approaches. Her mentorship and capacity-building skills transformed technical and facility teams towards responsive and AYP-friendly service delivery actively looking for AYP at risk and linking to prevention and treatment. Sharon supported the integration of CQI culture for HIV prevention services and keenly monitored staff performance in various deliverable services.
