Gold Star Kenya has vast experience programming in the Arid & Semi-Arid Lands(ASAL) where extremes of drought & floods occur regularly. This poses frequent scrabble for resources among the predominantly pastoralist populations. In this regard, response to their humanitarian plight is core to running any project. Towards retention of the HIV positive on ART, ensuring completion of the prescribed ANC & KEPI immunization schedule and safe skilled birth attendance, Gold Star Kenya has devised humanitarian approaches to accomplish this mandate. The humanitarian & peacebuilding approaches include flexible integrated outreach programs, collaboration with the security agencies to ensure clients reach health services, engagement of the village elders (Nyumba Kumi) and participation in community forums.
